Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. And increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young People need to know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, their mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Their core programs engage young people in activities with adults, peers, and family members that enable them to reach their full potential. Based on the interests and needs of the boys and girls they serve, clubs offer diverse program activities in five areas: Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, The Arts, Sports Fitness and Recreation, and Health and Life Skills. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.

At Andson, their mission is to educate, inform, and inspire youth and young adults by delivering innovative programs in academics, financial literacy, and mentoring. They believe delivering both financial and educational support to students, can aid not only in their academic careers, but also in their personal development. Our programs educate and empower students to achieve sound and promising futures. Their goal is to support these vital aspects of development, equipping students with the necessary life skills to close the education gap and avoid the financial crises that often plague the adult lives of at-risk, disadvantaged youth.
They intend to achieve these outcomes by focusing on two objectives:
• Academic improvement, achieved by comprehensive after school tutoring support and measured in grade level literacy assessments currently in use through our school systems
• Financial literacy improvement, achieved through effective financial education, when possible encouraging savings habits through actual practice
Andson programs are intended to serve a broad age range of children in the Las Vegas, Boulder City and Henderson areas. The majority of youth in their programs are at-risk, low-income and under served – some of the most vulnerable in Southern Nevada. Given the startling statistics on the lack of financial literacy in America, there is clearly a need for well-designed financial literacy programs in our schools.
